The investigation is complete: Police shot a man in the leg in self-defense

It was during the night of Good Friday that the man armed with an ax and chainsaw tried to break into a neighbor’s house in the small community in eastern Blekinge. When the police arrived at the scene, the 35-year-old allegedly refused to let go of his attachments and the police then decided to open fire.

The Special Prosecutor’s Chamber has now investigated the shooting and has, according to BLT came to the conclusion that the police acted in an emergency.

– The policeman was in an emergency situation. From what emerged from the investigative material obtained, the action was not clearly unjustifiable, says chief prosecutor Maria Sterup to the newspaper.

The investigation has included, among other things, footage from body cameras from two police officers, interviews with police officers and photographs by police technicians. Interrogations with the shot man have also been weighed in.

The shot man is on probable grounds suspected of attempted murder against one of the police officers, as well as damage to a neighboring property where the resident has taken shelter.
