Unique multicolored fox in Pajala – attracts photographers from all over the world

It was at the end of October that the photographer went out to a cabin, following tips that an unusual fox was scurrying around the knots.

Lotta Nyberg only had time to set up the cameras and respond to a message when the fox suddenly came into view. The fur was red, black and white.

– It was fantastically beautiful. I just hope no one shoots it. Ideally, you want that genetics to live on.

Want to enlarge the fox

It was the first time the photographer was out to photograph foxes. The experience gave Nyberg a taste for more – and she wants to photograph the fox again.

– I have bought a new lens that takes sharper pictures. What I had was a budget option because I was curious about wildlife photography. But I now want to take a picture of the fox that I can enlarge hugely on the wall.

Photographers are attracted to Pajala

After the meeting, the image of the fox has attracted international interest. A couple from Germany also wants to come to Pajala to photograph the unique animal.

– I have been asked if I can take them there to spot foxes.

Can have different color variants

There are now plenty of foxes in Sweden. The classic red fox is most common, but they can have several different color variants, although this is unusual.

– Very unusual, but at least a few different individuals have been seen in northern Sweden, says Didrik Vanhoenacker, on-call biologist at the National Museum of Natural History, about the color variant of the fox in Pajala.
