What are the risks of this?

– This entails a risk of burning, but also a risk of oversunning, meaning that you get more sun than you need, which is what increases the risk of skin cancer and aging skin.

Petra Verga Kan believes that you should avoid being in direct sunlight for longer periods of time, especially if the UV index is high.

– Seek shade or protect the skin with clothing, a hat and supplement with sun protection factor where you cannot cover with clothing. If you are against using sunscreen, you should only be in direct sunlight for short moments a day, maybe 15-20 minutes when the UV index is high, she says.
