Russian claim that will be talked about a lot for

Everyone is talking about Russia’s intervention in Ukraine. While sanction decisions were taken against Russia in the world, an important claim was made about the major processor manufacturers Intel and AMD.

ALLEGED “INTEL AND AMD STOP PROCESSOR SUPPLY”

A Russian media outlet called RBC claimed that Intel and AMD had verbally informed Russian manufacturers that both companies had stopped supplying processors to Russia in response to military action against Ukraine.

In addition, in the news published by the organization, it was claimed that the partners in China were informed by Intel’s local office about the ban on the supply of processors to Russia.

The report also claimed that the suspension of processor deliveries from AMD and Intel was confirmed by a representative of the Russian Association of Developers and Electronics Manufacturers (ARPE).

EXPLANATION FROM INTEL SPEAKER

According to the news, an Intel representative in Russia said, “The company is closely monitoring the situation and is complying with applicable sanctions, including new sanctions imposed by the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and rules published by the U.S. Department of Commerce Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS). It complies with export regulations,” he said.

INTEL AND AMD MAY NOT WAIT FOR MARCH 3

The technology and export ban to Russia, which the BIS recently announced in detail, will come into effect on 3 March. But RBC’s claim is that Intel and AMD have already stopped supplies.

If the claim is true, it is stated that Intel and AMD’s ban on shipment of chips to Russia does not cover consumer devices such as personal computers, mobile phones and digital cameras. It is stated that the ban only includes processors in areas used for industrial purposes.

However, Intel or AMD has not yet made an official and detailed statement about the ban in Russia.
