Big crash on the E6 – bus and cars down a sinkhole

The alarm about the road collapse reached the emergency services at 01.45 on the night of Saturday. An area of around 150 meters on the E6 in both north and southbound directions is affected.

– The road is completely closed in both directions and will be for a long time, says Lidia Bradaric, alarm and line operator at the rescue service in Greater Gothenburg, on Saturday morning.

A side road is also affected and closed.

Bus and cars

A bus and an unknown number of cars must have driven into the hole. As of Saturday morning, it is not known exactly how many vehicles are involved, says Bradaric.

– We are on site with several units and cooperate with both the police and ambulance, she says.

According to the police, three people have been injured.

– Three injured have been taken to hospital, says Fredrik Flyberg, officer on duty at the police, to TT at three o’clock on Saturday morning.

Flyberg tells SVT Nyheter that the people have “minor fractures” and that so far there is no information that anyone was seriously injured.

Nearby buildings are also said to have been damaged by the landslide. However, it should not be about housing.

– We don’t know exactly how, but they are affected, says Lidia Bradaric.

Risk of collapse

As further race cannot be ruled out, road users and the public are asked to avoid the area. What it is that risks collapsing, however, cannot be answered at the moment.

– They are there and investigating. Once they’ve done their research, they’ll know if there’s any additional risk or not.

TT’s photographer tells us that there is a big effort in the area with many fire trucks and ambulances on site. There is also a helicopter flying over the area. Fog made it difficult to get an overview early in the morning.

Police cars and roadside assistance vehicles are deployed to block the approaches to the race area. Traffic is diverted via route 650.

The police assess that the impact on traffic will be “enormous” for a long time to come.
