A new premium mount has landed in the World of Warcraft shop. But many of you may have gotten it “just like that”.
The World of Warcraft in-game shop is filled with new content at regular intervals. A cool new mount is now available for mount collectors as part of a 6-month subscription. But many of you should be able to get the mount “just like that” without having to take out a new subscription.
What kind of mount is that? The “Wonderful Wavy Schnauzer” is a fairly large fish that will carry you to the game world of Azeroth in the future. The fish with the long barbels is reminiscent of the aesthetics of the Ankoan from Naz’jatar and that’s intentional. The Ankoans are responsible for raising these fish.
How do you get the mount? If you already have an active subscription that runs for 6 or 12 months, you will receive the mount for free within the next few days. It will then appear as a “Gift” in your Battle.net app.
Note that it may take a few days for the mount to appear as a gift. Blizzard states that it may take until July 24th for all active subscribers to receive the mount.
If you don’t have a subscription and don’t want to sign up for the mount, you can also buy the wonderful curly schnauzer separately in the shop. But then it costs a whopping €25.
If you plan to play WoW in the next six months anyway, you are much better off with a subscription.

Some suspect a reference to a new addon: New mounts in the shop are often a reason for speculation. In the past, mounts have occasionally been a hidden, first hint of where World of Warcraft could be headed in the next expansion.
For some, a fish as a mount is therefore an indication that the next addon will be about water and the sea – for example a “South Seas” expansion with pirates or a water area in which you can meet Queen Azshara again, for example .
However, there is still no solid evidence of this.
How is the community reacting to the shop mount? The great criticism that shop mounts received a few years ago seems to have abated a little now. Although some fans still believe that all mounts should be obtainable through gameplay, the criticism has diminished. This is probably also due to the fact that WoW has been delivering new content regularly and reliably in recent months.
Back then, for example with “Shadowlands” it was different. There it seemed to many as if the shop mounts were the only new content that was published at all.
