Ulf Kristersson: “Horrifying attack on civilians”

Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) describes the war between Hamas and Israel as “unforgivable”. At the same time, he worries about the consequences that may affect us here at home in Sweden.

– I am concerned, he says.

Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson is concerned about the development of events in Israel and Gaza, and the war between Israel and Hamas.

– These are horrific images we have seen every day. A horrific attack on civilians, unforgivable, he says in Nyhetsmorgon.

Furthermore, he expresses concern about the consequences the ongoing conflict may have here at home on Swedish soil.

– I had dinner yesterday with the Nordic prime ministers, and quite a few of us have people in our countries where we see that there are expressions of opinion that are quite terrible. I am quite concerned about the consequences it can have in different countries when groups are pitted against each other in different ways, and people who praise, for example, what Hamas has done, he says.

Recognition of Palestine ‘ill-conceived’

Ulf Kristersson, who answers Nyhetsmorgon’s questions directly from a defense summit in Visby, also comments on the fact that three parties in his government (SD, L and KD) want to withdraw the recognition of Palestine due to the ongoing war.

According to Kristersson, the recognition was an “ill-thought-out and unrooted decision”, but at the same time he does not see that a withdrawal is relevant at the moment.

– It was a symbolic decision that was not happy. But I’m not sure it would be better to make new token decisions around the same thing. I think you should have a long-term and stable foreign policy, he says, and adds.

– It was stupid, but now it’s done.
