The soccer star gave a powerful speech about the racism

Vinicius Junior of the Brazilian national football team was emotional at the press conference. The star striker representing Real Madrid played in the national match at his club’s home stadium.

Vinicius, who was preparing for the international match against Spain, spoke at Brazil’s press conference in Madrid. He said that he has to focus every day on being able to play football.

– I would just like to play football. To do everything for my team and my family, Vinicius said and teared up.

Last season, the Spanish premier league La Liga notified the prosecutor of ten cases in which a 23-year-old Brazilian player had to face racist behavior. Vinicius stated that it is difficult for him to ignore insults. Still, he continues to play in Spain.

– I haven’t even thought about (leaving Spain). If I leave, I’ll give the racists exactly what they want. I will stay here, fight, play in the best club in the world, win a lot of trophies and score a lot of goals so that these people can see my face in the future, Vinicius said.

Vinicius said he is not the only black person who faces verbal racism. In addition, he does not blame Spain, but believes that black people suffer from racism all over the world.

– It (verbal racism) is only a fraction of the suffering of black people around the world.

On Tuesday night, Brazil and Spain played a national match with the anti-racism theme “same skin” (esp. una misma piel). The match was played at Santiago Bernabeu, which is Real Madrid’s home stadium.
