Thousands of young Thai girls are said to have been abused online.
It is described as one of the largest sex offenses ever in Thailand, according to reports.
A young Swedish man is suspected of having sat at home in Stockholm and run the pedophile site – now he is pointed out as the main suspect.
Since last winter, Swedish police have worked closely with the Thai special police TICAC, which works to combat crimes against children on the internet.
According to a Thai human trafficking report, the Thai special forces force a few months ago managed to put out a page that spread thousands of abuses against children on the Russian social media vk.com.
The Swedish police were involved when it turned out that the owner of the pedophile site could be traced to an apartment in a suburb of Stockholm.
Documents from the police’s national operational department (NOA) now describe the case as one of the largest sexual assault and human trafficking cases ever in Thailand.
Tasks: Criminal networks are behind the abuses
In connection with the pedophile site being shut down on vk.com, an enormous investigation was launched from the Swedish and Thai sides.
The document from Noa states that the abuse was controlled from Sweden and carried out by people in criminal networks in Thailand. The people are said to have abused thousands of young Thai girls and forced them into sexual acts, according to information.
The abuse must then have been shared on the page for which the Swedish man is now suspected of having been the administrator.
A large investigation team from Sweden has been on site in Thailand to interrogate several of the people involved in the plot, according to information to Aftonbladet.
The suspected Swedish man is 23 years old and a resident of the Stockholm region. For three years, he is suspected of having controlled the site where the thousands of abuses of the children have been shared, according to information.
He was arrested on suspicion of grossly illegal invasion of privacy and a serious child pornography offense last winter. Since then, he has been in custody in Sweden, according to documents from the district court.
Tasks: Several people arrested
The suspect is previously unpunished. Since his arrest, he has been remanded in custody several times.
The documents from Noah also show that a number of other people have been tracked down and arrested on suspicion of involvement in the giant sexual crime plot.
Some of these will now be imprisoned in Thailand.
Aftonbladet has been in contact with the preliminary investigation leader who is now leading the case from Sweden. The prosecutor confirms that the man is in custody but has so far not made any further comments.
The suspect’s lawyer also does not want to comment on the case at this time.
– I can not say much. That is the lid on at this stage and the preliminary investigation will continue for a while longer, he says.
