Police have charged a 54-year-old Stratford man following reports of a violent confrontation at a south-end business early Saturday morning that resulted in one person suffering minor injuries.

Stratford police said officers received reports of a disturbance at the business shortly before 2 am Saturday. After arriving on scene, police learned a person at the business had attempted to remove the man, who then allegedly used a knife to slash the employee, resulting in minor injuries. Police alleged the man also threatened to kill the person with a gun.

While the suspect had already fled the scene when police arrived, officers quickly found him on Erie Street and placed him under arrest. He was taken to police headquarters, where he was charged with uttering threats, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault with a weapon and breach of probation.

The man was released from police custody and is required to attend court on July 31.
