At least eleven people, including five children, have been killed in the Russian attack on the city of Pokrovsk. The statement comes from the governor of the Donetsk region, Vadim Filashkin.

Another ten were injured when robots struck in Pokrosk and Rivne in Myrnograd.

Response to Air Base Attack

Earlier on Saturday, it was said that a Russian military outpost was destroyed at the Saky air base in the western Crimean peninsula. The statement comes from Ukrainian Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshtyuk on Telegram.

In the post, Oleshtyuk writes that “all targets have been hit” and he thanks Ukrainian soldiers for a “wonderful job”, but does not state when the attack should have occurred, writes Bloomberg.

The information has not been independently confirmed.

At the same time, the Russian Ministry of Defense states that it shot down four Ukrainian robots over Crimea during the night, writes AFP. Russia also claims to have shot down 36 Ukrainian drones over Crimea on Friday.

Important target

Crimea, annexed by Russia since 2014, has been a key target for Ukraine since the full-scale invasion almost two years ago.

At the end of December, the Russian landing ship Novocherkassk was completely destroyed in Ukraine’s attack on a port on the Crimean peninsula.
