Downey Jr. also wants to portray this feeling of panic, which Hitchcock also takes up in places in Vertigo, in his new edition of the classic:

This is what Alfred Hitchcock’s original Vertigo is about. The 1958 milestone revolves around police officer Scottie (James Stewart), who has a fear of heights and is hired by a former school friend whose wife Madeleine (Kim Novak) to shadow. This should be possessed by the ghost of her grandmother, who took her own life at the age of 26. Madeleine also falls into San Francisco Bay and the protagonist just manages to save her. Scottie falls in love with the stranger, but that’s only where the problems begin.
