One person sent to hospital after Saturday morning motel fire

One person was sent to hospital following a brief Saturday morning blaze at the Rosecourt Motel in Stratford.

Firefighters responded to the Erie Street motel around 5:38 am and had the fire under control in under 15 minutes, Stratford fire Chief John Paradis said.

The condition of the injured person was unclear Saturday evening.

Damage to the motel was “mainly contained in the suite but smoke damage may have extended beyond the initial fire,” Paradis said.

The cause of the fire and the estimated cost of the damages are still being investigated.
