Nicolas Cage returns as Dracula in a wacky new trailer

Dracula seems like the perfect role for Nicolas Cage. Eccentric, impulsive and with a lot of wacky humor, he will play the role of the vampire prince in the horror comedy Renfield, which now has a new trailer. Director Chris McKay (The Lego Batman Movie) also revealed that his film follows on from a cult classic from the 1930s.

Horror cracker with Nicolas Cage is to continue the Dracula cult film from 1931

The predecessor is the film Dracula with horror legend Bela Lugosi. Speaking to Collider, McKay explained:

[Dracula von 1931] is great. For me it is [Renfield] the only direct sequel with the same Dracula and Renfield from the movie.

Renfield revolves around Dracula’s assistant of the same name (Nicholas Hoult), who wants to leave his master’s services after more than a century of personal bondage. However, McKay does not reveal exactly how the drawing of the two characters goes back to Tod Browning’s 92-year-old horror milestone.

When is Renfield coming to the cinema?

Connoisseurs of the horror classic will soon be able to convince themselves of the overlaps in the cinema. Renfield is scheduled to May 25, 2023 start. In addition to Cage and Hoult, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings star Awkwafina is also in front of the camera.
