NextChem Maire selected as partner for Aliplast Hera upcycling plant

(Finance) – MAIREa group listed on Euronext Milan and active in the transformation of natural resources, announced that the subsidiary NextChem has been selected as an engineering and technology partner for a new plastic upcycling project which will be created in Modena by Aliplast, a Group company Hera which deals with the recycling and conversion of plastic waste. Once fully operational, the plant will treat up to 30,000 tonnes of rigid polyolefin plastic waste per year.
In the field of mechanical recycling, NextChem Tech’s expertise consists of an upcycling process for produce recycled polymers and high purity compounds. These recycled polymers (the so-called “r-polymers”) are suitable for replacing virgin materials of fossil origin in various industrial applications (general purpose packaging, construction, home and gardening applications, automotive, logistics packaging, agricultural and blow molding components) and they respond to the growing demand generated by the new regulation and the plans of the various manufacturing brands.

“We are pleased to have been chosen by Aliplast as a technological partner for this important project – he commented Mohammed Nafid, CEO of NextChem Tech – The recycling sector needs a sustainable development model based on technology, innovation and product quality. NextChem Tech’s experience allows us to reverse the common and usual “waste-to-market” approach into a “products-from-waste” strategy, in which materials derived from fossil raw materials are replaced by r-polymers of equal quality to the virgin ones”.
