Man accused in Tilbury homicide awaits further disclosure

A 32-year-old man facing a second-degree murder charge after a missing man was found dead in a Tilbury home in April will return to court July 11.

Ken Baylis of Tilbury made a brief virtual appearance Friday in a Chatham court, where his lawyer Greg McGivern asked for an adjournment for further disclosure.

A publication ban is in place on evidence heard during the pre-trial phase.

According to previously published reports, Chatham-Kent police found the body of Daniel Marchand, 45, in a Dufferin Street apartment complex in Tilbury on April 26.

Marchand, who hadn’t been seen since April 15, was reported missing April 19, police said.
