A large explosion has damaged buildings near the mayor’s office in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu on Sunday. Afterwards, shooting broke out, police and witnesses told the AFP news agency.
According to the police, the attackers blew up a vehicle loaded with explosives near the regional headquarters.
– Shooting is going on in the main building but we do not know what is happening inside, says a witness, who states that people have been injured and that the area has been cordoned off.
The jihadist extremist group al-Shabab has claimed responsibility for the attack, according to the AP news agency.
