An investigator is commissioned by the government to review how the expansion of detention centers and institutions can be accelerated.

“This is an important step in the government’s work to shorten lead times in the planning and construction process as well as simplify and improve regulations,” says Infrastructure and Housing Minister Andreas Carlson (KD) in a press release.

The investigator must submit proposals that “improve the conditions” for building more prisons and institutions and creating places through a shortened planning and construction process.

“Reducing the complexity of regulations during construction is an important part of facilitating and speeding up the expansion of the Correctional Service,” says Minister of Justice Gunnar Strömmer (M).

The investigator, lawyer Kathrin Flossing Wiklund, will submit her proposals on October 31.
