On board the lifeboat Famous, SVT Nyheter Skåne was allowed to follow during the exercise. After an effort by several boats, Oscar Jensen Braun was picked up.
– It was fun, but a little cold in the water, was his comment when he got on the lifeboat.
National Day of Total Defense
Behind the event for the day are MSB and the Swedish Armed Forces, together with the County Administrative Board of Skåne and the city of Malmö. Among the participants were also the Coast Guard, the Swedish Customs and the Police Authority.
– We at Sjöräddningssällskapet are part of the civil defense, which is part of the total defense, explains Ian Willson, who is the commander within the operation.
In addition to the exercise, they also show some of their boats to the public.
– We are important because we are in so many places and where we are we have a good local knowledge, says Ian Willson.
