Here are Fastators connections to the convicted felon investor

The listed company Fastator ended up in a storm when CEO Joachim Kuylenstierna’s conversations about money laundering and top politicians were revealed.

An internal investigation concluded that there was no criminal connection, but Kuylenstierna resigned anyway.

But the police investigation into operation Playa shows clear connections between Fastator and Harriette Broman – convicted of drug-related money laundering.

The real estate company Fastator’s former CEO Joachim Kuylenstierna resigned from the post on Thursday when the company presented the results of its internal investigation carried out by the law firm Harvest. However, the Kuylenstiers are still the company’s single largest owner through 27.73 percent of the shares.

No irregularities have been found surrounding the formation of the listed company Fastator, and in a press release it was stated that neither Fastator nor Joachim Kuylenstierna have been “involved in anything criminal”.

The investigation was carried out after Aftonbladet was able to report on how Jochim Kuylenstierna discussed schemes for money laundering in a recorded conversation, and how he “stuffs politicians in” to avoid suspicion. Former political leaders Björn Rosengren and Carl Bildt sit on Fastator’s board.

But the connection to criminal elements is not non-existent, Aftonbladet’s review shows.

On three decisive occasions leading up to Fastator’s formation, Harriette Broman, now convicted of drug-related money laundering, was involved.

  • She saved the Joachim Kuylensters’ company Skälsö with a multi-million dollar investment, which was the basis for the sub-company DK Properties avoiding bankruptcy.
  • She was still a partner in DK Properties when it was sold, which gave Joachim Kuylenstierna the capital to start Fastator, which is also stated in the internal audit report.
  • When Fastator then acquired its parent company Skälsö, Harriette Broman was still a co-owner.

    Sentenced in Spain

Harriette Broman was charged with money laundering in connection with the drug operation Playa, but was acquitted in the Court of Appeal. This after her nephew Jonas Falk was acquitted of the suspicions of having been the mastermind behind extensive drug smuggling.

As the main crime could not be proven, the Swedish court could not convict her of money laundering, according to the legislation at the time.

But in a Spanish court, Harriette Broman and Jonas Falk were sentenced for drug-related money laundering to over two years in prison and both were fined the equivalent of more than 40 million each.

The Spanish court ruled that Harriette Broman acted as a pawn for Jonas Falk, who was considered to be the real owner of significant assets that he had between 2006 and 2010.

Precisely during the years that Harriette Broman and Joachim Kuylenstierna had extensive business together, according to the Swedish criminal investigation.

    Owned 11 percent

During a meeting in Stockholm in 2009 between Kuylenstierna, Broman and a third person, a protocol was drawn up which showed that the third person acted as the bull on Broman’s behalf.

When Harriette Broman then bought 24.5 percent of the shares in Skälsö AB from Joachim Kuylenstierna, she in turn became the owner of 11 percent of the shares in DK Properties, which was 44 percent owned by Skälsö.

DK Properties was broken up the following year and sold off, which gave Kuylenstierna SEK 44 million for its part. Harriette Broman still owned 11 percent of the shares at the time of the sale.

    Paid with shares

In Fastator’s internal investigation, it is found that the funds used to start Fastator “most certainly derive from Skälsö’s income from the sale of shares in DK Properties AB”.

And when Fastator was formed, Harriette Broman was the owner of 25 percent of Skälsö, which Kuylenstierna herself admitted during questioning with the police.

In December 2012, Fastator bought 100 percent of the shares in Skälsö and paid with shares in Fastator. At that time, the then detained Harriette Broman was still a co-owner in Skälsö.

Last week, Fastator announced that Joachim Kuylenstierna left the CEO post with immediate effect, and was temporarily replaced by board chairman Björn Rosengren.

Footnote: Aftonbladet has sought Fastator’s acting CEO Björn Rosengren, who refers to lawyer Björn Wendelby who carried out the review report. He refers back to Rosengren. We are also looking for Joachim Kuylenstierna and Harriette Broman for a comment.
