Sci-fi prequel: Songbirds and Snakes takes place 64 years before the Panem films

In Songbirds and Snakes, the brutal President Snow of the previous films (Donald Sutherland) is nothing more than an ambitious upstart. To his chagrin, his superiors give him the job of taking the young To train Lucy Gray Baird (Zegler) for the upcoming 10th Hunger Games. Although she, like Snow, comes from a modest background as a resident of the 12th district, he sees her education as a step backwards in his career. Until he develops feelings for her.

Rachel Zegler’s character in the sci-fi prequel is already considered the “anti-Katniss” who combines her musical talent with an open-hearted and friendly character. As the trailer shows, that won’t save her. Also in the 10th Hunger Games the blood flows until only one person remains.
