Finland is sending over one million euros worth of aid

Support includes, among other things, food, shelter and medical assistance.

Finland is sending one million euros worth of humanitarian aid to Turkey and Syria, the Government says in its press release.

Aid is delivered through the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.

The support provides, among other things, food and shelter as well as medical help and trauma support to those who have lost their homes in both countries.

A team of seven experts also left Finland on Tuesday morning to support rescue and relief work. The group will arrive in southern Turkey on Wednesday.

Two large earthquakes occurred in the southern part of Turkey on Monday, February 6. By 4:30 Tuesday afternoon, more than 5,000 people have died in Turkey and Syria as a result of the earthquakes. In addition, more than 20,000 people in Turkey and more than 1,500 people in Syria have been injured.
