Ebba Andersson’s criticism – reveals the true thoughts after winning the Jerring Prize: “Reacted to it”

Ebba Andersson became the first cross-country skier since Charlotte Kalla to win the Jerring prize.
But she was not completely satisfied with the nominations during the gala.
– I reacted to it, says the star.

Ebba Andersson came from a truly magical 2023. After many years in the world elite, she had her absolute breakthrough with two World Cup golds, and a total of four medals, and showing in the World Cup. And for that she was one of the nominees in Sweden’s most prestigious sports award, the Jerring Prize.

Ebba’s great success

Even before the gala, however, many had reacted to the nominations for the other awards, as neither Ebba Andersson, Frida Karlsson, Jonna Sundling nor Hanna Öberg – who all had great success in cross-country skiing and biathlon last year – were not nominated to become Female Athlete of the Year.

But it was still a magical evening for Ebba Andersson. From her hotel room in Switzerland, where she joined via link, she was told that she snubbed Duplantis at the Jerring Prize. Andersson received nearly 70,000 more votes than Armand Duplantis.

– I don’t know if I expected to win this, but it also shows what a special place cross-country skiing has in the hearts of the Swedish people, she says in her acceptance speech.

The criticism after the gala

One of those who reacted strongly to the fact that Ebba Andersson, and other winter athletes, were snubbed for a nomination from Female Athlete of the Year has been Jacob Hård, who believes that all places. However, Ebba Andersson is not too upset.

– I feel that they are two completely different prices, but you can call it revenge if you want, she tells Expressen.

At the same time, Ebba Andersson believes that there are others who deserve a nomination, from her skiing friends. In addition to Jonna Sundling’s WC dominance, Frida Karlsson also won the Tour de Ski. Andersson believes that she “reacted”.

– I had many strong performances that could have been enough for a nomination, but my teammates did. That’s what I reacted to, she says.
