THE SAND BAY. The police are still on the scene at a cordoned off forest area in Sandviken.

They are tight-lipped about what has happened.

– There was a police car driving around here yesterday. I reacted to it because you never see police in this area otherwise, says a neighbor.

Several hours have passed since the police were alerted to a forest road next to a residential area in Sandviken.

The internal and external cordons in the forest are still in place and several police officers are guarding the site.

A year ago, a 16-year-old boy was shot dead on the same cycle path. Flowers and candles bear witness to the place where the boy died.

Now, a year later, something has happened here again.

– Of course it feels scary. Normally, I walk that way often with my dog, says a neighbor.

Police on site the night before

It is a quiet and peaceful residential area that borders the cycle path. Many people passing by here tonight are out with their dogs, or on their way home from a Father’s Day celebration.

A passing neighbor stops by and says that he saw a police car here already yesterday.

What they did here he doesn’t know.

– There was a police car driving around here yesterday. I reacted to that because you never see police in this area otherwise, except after the shooting last year, he says.

Signed about the case

The alarm about the incident this morning came in at 06.30.

The police say they are investigating a serious crime, but during the day they have been tight-lipped about what classification they have placed on the case.

Only tomorrow will they come out with more information.

– It is different from case to case how much you can say about a case. Regarding this, we have decided not to go out with more at the moment, says Daniel Winge, RLC commander at police region Mitt.

Gunshots echoed in the forest

Neighbors that Aftonbladet spoke to say, however, that they heard several loud bangs early on Sunday morning.

– I first heard one shot, then two more. It sounded like gunfire, says one woman.

Others report seeing blue lights and hearing sirens. The witnesses who The worker’s sheet talked to also say that they heard an ambulance leave the bike path in the forest “at full speed”.

The residents here remember the murder last year. That a serious crime is once again being investigated in the same place feels scary, says a neighbor.

– It feels very uncomfortable. It has always been so peaceful in Sandviken, but after this you start to wonder if it really is, she says.
