Charlene of Monaco breaks royal protocol with an unconventional manicure

Saturday October 28, 2023, alongside her husband Prince Albert II, Charlene of Monaco attended the Rugby World Cup final between the Springboks and New Zealand. If her explosion of joy for the victory of her native country, South Africa, did not go unnoticed, it was a particular detail of her beauty that attracted all the attention.

Charlene of Monaco’s bold manicure

It is not because she has the title of princess that Charlene of Monaco respects the rules of royal protocol. And she proved it once again at the Rugby World Cup final by showing up with a stunning and bold color. The ex-swimmer had in fact painted the tips of her fingers black, while it is frowned upon for a member of the royal family to wear fake nails or brightly colored nail polish at a public event. Black, very often associated with the rock spirit, remains a very elegant shade, especially when worn on short nails as is the case for Charlene of Monaco.

Why can’t royals wear colored nail polish?

Women who are part of royalty, whether Monegasque or not, must follow protocol rules concerning hairstyles, the length of skirts and even manicures. It is therefore very rare to see a princess wearing colored nail polish, and even more so dark nail polish like Charlene of Monaco. Generally, they opt for delicately pink nails or a nude manicure, considered more discreet and elegant. But we know, it’s not like Princess Charlene to follow the rules. Since her arrival in the princely family of Monaco, she has done what she pleases and she is right!
