Brynäs now says what everyone wants to hear about a dream signing of Nicklas Bäckström – chasing 10(!) players for the SHL return

Brynäs is back in the SHL again.
Now they are trying to build a powerful team.
So far, a couple of dream reinforcements from the NHL are ready – and there may be more.

It was only one year in the HockeyAllsvenskan for Brynäs, who are once again back in the fine room of Swedish hockey. After winning the regular season in superior style and running over all the teams in the playoffs, it will finally be the SHL in the fall in Gävle.

Brynäs before the SHL

Right now, work is underway to build a powerful team to establish themselves in the top flight again and not repeat the same mistakes as last time. The sports manager Johan Alcén is in full swing and has already landed nice dream reinforcements from the NHL.

First was the prestige signing Jakob Silfverberg done, then the goalkeeper came Erik Källgren and now most recently presented Oscar Lindblom. Three heavy signings for an SHL club and there could be more.

The words about Bäckis

Now Alcén opens up about the team ahead of the SHL return.
– We are okay with the squad building. We are a month behind everyone else, but we are quite calm about our situation. There are a few more pieces of the puzzle to go in, but we have closed all conversations and books from the past season. We’ll see who stays, he tells Expressen and admits that there could be 10(!) more signings.
– We have a little bit left, absolutely. I want a goalkeeper, three defenders and six more forwards.

Brynäs obviously hopes for more returnees from North America and around Europe. Christian Djoos and Calle Järnkrok are some names that have been mentioned but the big dream signing is obviously Nicklas Bäckström in the Washington Capitals.
– Yes, I have actually talked to everyone. Now he (Bäckström) is on the injury list and he has one year left on his contract, so there are no formal discussions, says the sports manager in the interview.
– Of course I told him we’ll talk again in a year, hehe…

The Swedish NHL star has one year left on his lucrative NHL contract but does not appear to be directly part of the Capitals’ future plans. And just that Brynäs confirms that they have a dialogue with “Bäckis” will probably make most supporters start to yearn.
– No, but everyone is welcome at any time. That also applies to Nicklas, says Johan Alcén to the evening newspaper.
– Like this: If someone were to be bought out, like Järnkrok, then I would take him home too.
