Baldur’s Gate 3 has released a deluxe edition that you can pre-order. But people are already offering their copy at an overpriced price. The developers warn against purchasing and say that the edition will not be limited.
Baldur’s Gate 3 has undoubtedly taken 2023 by storm, establishing itself as one of the most popular and successful games. At the Golden Joystick Awards, the RPG bagged a whopping 7 awards, including the Ultimate Game of the Year award. Things are also looking good at the upcoming Game Awards. There, Baldur’s Gate 3 was nominated for a total of 8 categories, including the coveted GOTY title.
Larian Studios recently released the deluxe edition of Baldur’s Gate 3, which is available to pre-order now. But pre-ordered copies are already appearing on various platforms at far inflated prices.
Don’t buy the deluxe edition at higher prices, the edition will not be limited
What’s the deluxe edition all about? With confirmed pre-orders, people are currently selling the deluxe edition for a higher price. A quick search on eBay shows that the Deluxe Edition is currently being offered for 200-300 euros, although the original price is 79.99 euros and it is not a limited edition.
There will be enough copies coming, as Larian Studios Director of Publishing Michael Douse emphasized on X. In the post he writes the following:
Just FYI: The Deluxe Edition is not limited and inventory levels are holding steady, with additional waves being prepared within the Q1 2024 shipping window. So if you see them being resold online at higher prices based on confirmed pre-orders, then don’t do it. There will be no inventory shortage.
We confirmed a minimum order quantity, but we exceeded it on day one, and the first quarter shipping date allows us to easily increase wave sizes without jeopardizing the shipping date. […]
