Aid agreement reached in Sudan

Sudan’s warring parties have agreed on guidelines for humanitarian aid, according to US reports.

Representatives of the army and the paramilitary forces signed in the Saudi city of Jeddah a “declaration of commitment to protect the civilians of Sudan”, says a US representative who participated in the talks.

The agreement commits both sides in general terms to admit humanitarian aid and allow the restoration of basic infrastructure, electricity and water. Security forces must also be withdrawn from hospitals.
