You should have seen this slaughter of the gods

Since Zack Snyders 300, bloody battles in ancient times with ultra slow motion and steeled bodies can’t be topped anymore. At least until Tarsem Singh decides to make War of the Gods. Anyone who has ever seen a film by the Indian director such as The Cell or The Fall will spectacular world of images may never be forgotten from it.

Sat. 1 is broadcasting the blockbuster today, which turns out to be a mixed experience for long stretches and then takes your breath away in the 20-minute finale.

The finale of War of the Gods is worth the whole movie

In the story of Tarsem Singh’s film, the sadistic King Hyperion (Mickey Rourke) wants revenge on the gods take, which he blames for the death of his family. To do this, he wants to free the Titans who were once imprisoned by the gods.

To prevent Hyperion’s plan, Zeus raised Theseus (Henry Cavill) on Earth disguised as a human. He should mighty Arch of Epirus find which can be used to free the titans in order to defeat Hyperion and his army.

So far, so generic. With the plot, which, due to its revenge motif, looks at least as ancient as the setting of the film itself, War of the Gods is guaranteed not to entice anyone behind the stove.

The film becomes much more captivating thanks to the director’s striking images and almost every shot, despite the now outdated computer effects like a fine oil painting works.

The highlight here is the 20-minute finale, in which Tarsem Singh excessively pushes his style to the extreme. The decisive confrontation between Theseus against Hyperion begins with a larger battle reminiscent of 300 and again bloody sword fights with stylish slow motion combined.

The director finally unleashes the opulent coronation when the gods in their golden armor collide with the ash-grey titans. When both factions fight each other as reincarnations of heaven and hell in scenes that almost seem like exaggerated Marvel cinema, War of the Gods suddenly mixes in the noble optics ultra-brutal splatter excesses.

War of the Gods airs today at 10:50 p.m. on Sat. 1.
