Xbox automatically bans players because people are actually naked in nude scenes

Anyone who presses a button on the Xbox controller at the wrong moment will be automatically banned. This can easily happen, especially with Baldur’s Gate 3.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is a great, but also very adult game. Not only are some quests quite gruesome and brutal, but nudity also plays a role. This is not only because of the options for showing the characters completely naked – for example during character creation – but also because of the sex scenes, which are clearly intended for an adult audience.

But it is precisely these scenes that can be fatal for players on the Xbox Series X|S and ensure that Xbox accounts are banned – with sometimes hefty penalties.

Why the success of Baldur’s Gate 3 was no coincidence was discussed in detail here:

What happened? In the post from “Daddy-Vegas”, in the Baldur’s Gate 3 subreddit, he shows some screenshots of messages concerning his Xbox account. Because for uploading a few clips he was given an account penalty – for a full year.

These are game scenes from Baldur’s Gate 3, according to the company, “naked fun in the camp”. Although the three clips were recorded in very quick succession, they count as a triple violation of the rules because they contain inappropriate content – namely the nude scenes in question.

Actually, Daddy-Vegas just wanted to record the clips to show his brother and have fun together.

The result is now: the Xbox account is blocked until the end of 2024.

Why is this happening? The main reason is the default setting on most consoles. Because when you record a clip, which can be done by simply pressing a button on the controller, it is automatically uploaded to Xbox’s servers. This is an option that you have to actively turn off in the settings if you don’t want to use it.

However, since this uploading is activated by default, the content is checked automatically and in the event of a violation, this can then lead to account penalties – which are relatively hefty.

What are the consequences of this? Even a temporary ban on your Xbox account can have a whole range of unpleasant side effects that drastically restrict playing together. This includes:

  • No games that require an online connection can be played.
  • Streaming rights will be restricted.
  • Video clips and screenshots can no longer be uploaded.
  • Groups in Xbox Cosmos can no longer be created or joined.
  • Your own profile cannot be edited.
  • Communication with other users is restricted.
  • In the end, Microsoft will probably have to think carefully again about whether it makes sense that content that is an integral part of a game can automatically lead to a ban if it is included. However, everyone else should make sure that their saved clips are only saved locally and not accessible to the public – or, in the best case scenario, you can simply keep the heated love scenes to yourself without saving them.

Regardless, you may want to turn off automatic uploading of clips. Because otherwise you just run the risk of falling into this trap if you want to capture a fiery night with Karlach or Gale for eternity.
