Hungary and Slovenia have withdrawn from the World Cup, so Tampere and Riga are the only applicants for next year’s World Hockey Championships.

The 2023 World Championship cities will be confirmed at the IIHF Congress next Friday in Tampere. Race dates are 12-28. May 2023.
In late April, the IIHF decided not to play next year’s World Cup in St. Petersburg, Russia. Russia and supporting Belarus have been excluded from international hockey because of the war in Ukraine.
In addition to next year’s Games, the IIHF will decide on Friday the hosting of the 2026 Men’s World Cup. Switzerland is the only candidate for that year’s Games.
The organizers of the races for 2024 and 2025 have already been decided. In 2024, the Czech Republic will play in Prague and Ostrava, in 2025 the World Cup will be experienced in Stockholm, Sweden, and Herning, Denmark.
