Witness to the Oslo shooting: Complete panic

– I have never experienced anything like this. When I run in (in the bar) people are lying on the floor. There are injured, people are hiding, people are crying, people are in shock, people are screaming. It is chaos, says the witness, to VG.

Shortly after one o’clock on Saturday night, a person opened fire outside a restaurant in central Oslo. The police have since confirmed that two people have died and that about 20 people have been injured, several of them seriously. A suspect has been arrested.

“Saw a man”

At first, people at the scene did not understand what was happening, says a witness NRK but then panic ensued.

– I was in an outer bar when it happened. I just noticed that a shot was fired, and I was hit by a shard of glass. There were more and more shots so I fled into the inner bar and tried to get as many as possible with me, the witness says.

The channel’s own journalist Olav Rønneberg, himself witnessed the event:

– I saw a man who came to the place with a bag, he picked up a weapon and started firing, he says and tells that eyewitnesses were collected at a hotel nearby, he tells NRK.

“Complete panic”

A 24-year-old woman was standing by the window in the bar when she suddenly noticed that people were disappearing – she first thought it was a fight going on, she tells Norwegian Dagbladet.

– Then I suddenly heard a lot of shots. I was shot and lots of glass came at me, she tells the newspaper, and continues:

– Then I heard people shout ‘Come down! Come down!’ then I became very scared. It was complete panic.
