winner against Bolsonaro A historic result in Brazil

LULA. Lula is the new president of Brazil! The former head of state won against Bolsonaro and regained power, 11 years after leaving him.

[Mis à jour le 31 octobre 2022 à 00h11] Defeats, two victories, prison and again, the coronation. Lula therefore returned to power in Brazil, this Sunday, October 30, 2022, after winning the presidential election. The Workers’ Party candidate was elected President of the Federative Republic of Brazil by winning just under 51% of the votes cast by the more than 120 million Brazilians who turned out to vote. A particularly narrow victory for the representative of the left, much more than what the polls predicted. But this is a historic result, in more ways than one. First for Lula himself who won a number of votes never reached before with more than 59 million votes in his favour. Moreover, Brazil had never experienced such a close second round. Out of a college of 156 million voters, the difference was only made by 2 million votes. The last time a presidential election had been so close had seen the coronation of Dilma Rousseff (Patri of the workers) in 2014 with 3.5 million votes ahead of her opponent. This presidential election was also eagerly awaited for Brazilians, the majority of whom therefore chose alternation by putting an end to the far right in power.

What is the result of Lula in the presidential election in Brazil?

According to figures from the Brazilian Superior Electoral Court, Lula was elected President of the Federative Republic of Brazil by winning less than 51% of the vote (50.86% precisely). 60 million Brazilians voted for him, giving him a 2 million vote lead over Jair Bolsonaro.
