And nothing was more beautiful than this collaboration against Italy.

The 1982 FIFA World Cup is a mythical tournament for many. Many thanks to Brazil. There are plenty of soccer nostalgists out there who claim it was the best national team to never win the World Cup.

If you examine the team, however, you notice that there are some holes. Mediocre goaltending above all, and the defensive play was anything but effective. But if you had awarded gold for most entertaining football, then Brazil would have won every day of the week.

Two of the most important offensive players were Zico and Socrates. They were creative, incredibly technical and gifted with an unparalleled understanding of the game.
The duo was behind most of it, quite simply. When the two teamed up, pure soccer magic ensued. As in the goal in the match against Italy, which can be seen below.

Rossi decided

Italy won that match against Brazil, considered by many to be one of the best World Cup matches ever played. Paolo Rossi accounted for a hat-trick and the victory took Italy to the semi-finals, while Brazil were eliminated. Italy then went on to win the entire championship, taking their third World Cup gold. In the final they faced West Germany.

Zico and Socrates both took part in the 1986 World Cup, but Brazil went out on penalties in the quarter-finals against France. Argentina, led by Diego Maradona, won the championship in 1986. The Brazilian legends Zico and Socrates thus never won a World Cup, and are seen as two of the best footballers who never won World Cup gold.
But we will always remember their fantastically entertaining game and attack!
