Waste transparency for WEEE is now mandatory for producers of

(Finance) – Il “Competition” bill, definitively approved by the Chamber on Tuesday 18 December 2023 and which entered into force on the last day of the year after publication in the Official Journal, incorporates, in article 6, the amendment to article 8 of the Legislative Decree. 49/2014, regarding obligations of the management systems of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE).

In detail, paragraphs 3-bis, 3-ter and 3-quater have been added, which provide that individual and collective management systems must ensure advertising, also through the dissemination on its website, of information relating to the values ​​of the Environmental Contributions, differentiated for each piece of equipment, within 30 days of determining their value. The obligation of transparency also extends to the case of amounts calculated using all or part of the operating surpluses from environmental contributions.

The modification, proposed and strongly supported by Erion Weeethe main Italian Consortium of Extended Producer Responsibility in the WEEE sector, has as its main objective that of increase transparency in the management of this type of waste.

The amendment to Legislative Decree 49/2014 introduced by the Competition Decree finally puts all the Collective Systems of WEEE management on the same level, also forcing other Consortia to be as transparent as Erion WEEE” – comments Giorgio Arienti, General Director of Erion Weee – “In this way, healthier competition will be developed in the WEEE System, guaranteeing all Producers the possibility of making conscious choices.”
