United Kingdom retail sales slow down in February

(Finance) – Retail sales in the United Kingdom are slowing again. According to theOffice for National Statistics, retail sales showed no change on a monthly basis in February, after the 3.5% jump recorded in January. However, the figure is better than the consensus which indicated a drop of 0.4%.
On an annual basis, there was a negative change of 0.4%, against -0.7% of expectations and after +0.5% in January.

Core retail sales, which exclude fuel, fell 0.2% month-on-month, (-0.1% expected) after +3.4% the previous month. On a yearly basis, the core figure recorded -0.5% compared to -0.5% previously.
