UN A quarter of Gazans starving the risk of

According to UN estimates, Gaza receives about a tenth of the amount of food that its inhabitants would need.

More than a quarter of the residents of the Gaza Strip suffer from severe food shortages, the UN and aid organizations say in their report.

The report estimates that there is a food disaster in the entire Gaza Strip, but about 576,000 people are starving. The number is huge, because excluding the region, there are about 129,000 people in the world who are hungry.

According to the report, people are starving in Gaza even more than in Afghanistan and Yemen, and the risk of famine is increasing day by day.

– I have never seen anything happen on this level like what is happening in Gaza. And at such a speed, comments the chief economist of the UN World Food Program Arif Hussain.

When Israel launched its own attack on Gaza after Hamas’s surprise attack, it cut off all food, water and medicine deliveries to the area. Due to pressure from foreign powers, Israel has opened its gates a little.

At the moment, Gaza receives perhaps ten percent of the amount of food that a population of two million would need, the UN estimates.

It’s hard to get help

This week, Israel began allowing aid to enter Gaza from the Kerem Shalom border crossing from Jordan. In the past, aid transports have only been delivered through Egypt from the Rafah border crossing.

According to the UN, transports from Jordan increased the number of aid trucks from one hundred to almost two hundred on Wednesday.

However, the UN had to stop the transports on Thursday, when Israel struck a border crossing on the Palestinian side. At least four workers died in the attack.

President of Israel Isaac Herzog blamed the UN for the food shortage, says Times of Israel magazine.

According to Herzog, Israel has worked to increase the number of checks on aid trucks from 300 to 400. He also said that three times the amount of humanitarian aid would be sent to Gaza if the UN did its job properly.

According to the UN, bringing aid supplies has become difficult because of the fighting, at least 130 of its employees have died in the attacks.

Attempts have been made in the UN Security Council to vote on the resolution regarding the war between Israel and Hamas, but the vote has been postponed again. Attempts are being made to vote on the resolution on Friday, US time.

A couple of weeks ago, the US vetoed a previous resolution calling for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire.

According to the latest information, 20,057 people have died in Gaza in the Israeli military operation that began after the surprise attack by the terrorist organization Hamas. In addition, approximately 1.9 million Gazans have been forced to leave their homes, which is more than four out of five of its residents.
