Ukraine’s air defense says it shot down 12 out of 13 drones in a Russian drone attack over the Sumy region on Monday morning, writes The Guardian.

On Sunday, the region was also subjected to another Russian drone attack, which led to critical infrastructure such as water supply and hospitals having to be operated with backup power, according to Ukrainian officials.

At the same time, the Ukraine war will be discussed today when Chinese President Xi Jinping visits his French colleague Emmanuel Macron in Paris. France hopes to convince China to use its influence over Russia to “contribute to a solution to the conflict,” an official at the French presidential office told the AP news agency.
