Ukraine counts its supporters in Davos ahead of the World

One day before the opening of the World Economic Forum in Switzerland, another meeting takes place this Sunday in Davos between national security advisers about Volodymyr Zelensky’s peace plan for Ukraine. The Ukrainian president is also expected in Davos. The objective for kyiv is to revive attention on the conflict.

The first three meetings, in Copenhagen, Jeddah and Malta, did not achieve much. But kyiv can be satisfied to see that the number of participants grows each time. There are of course traditional supports: Europe and the United States in the lead. Jake Sullivan, Joe Biden’s security adviser, will lead the American delegation. But above all, other States, which have not resumed the series of sanctions against the Russia, are also there. We think of India, Brazil and South Africa.

There is, however, a question mark over the presence or absence of a Chinese representative. As for Russia, it was simply never invited. The Ukrainian peace plan is unacceptable from Moscow’s point of view since it calls for nothing more and nothing less than the withdrawal of Russian troops from the entireUkraine and the restoration of the territorial integrity of the country.

But the main thing is elsewhere for kyiv, which instead wants to count its allies at a time when the Ukrainian army is in great difficulty on the front and the American Congress is hesitant to renew its military aid.
