Ukraine and the attacking power Russia have carried out a prisoner exchange of around a hundred prisoners of war each. The exchange is confirmed by the Chief of Staff of the Ukrainian Presidential Office Andriy Jermak.

“These are soldiers, sailors, border guards and members of the National Guard,” writes Jermak on the social media platform Telegram. There he also posted a film sequence showing how women in uniform are received.

Ukraine is said to have recovered 100 soldiers.

Jermak writes that the negotiations with Russia were difficult and protracted.

Among the prisoners of war handed over to Ukraine are soldiers who fought in Mariupol before Russian forces besieged the city.

Russia confirms that over 100 Russian prisoners of war have been handed over.

“106 Russian soldiers have been handed over after negotiations from territories under Kiev’s control,” the Russian Defense Ministry announced, using terminology about Ukraine approved by the Kremlin.

The last prisoner exchange during the Russian war of aggression was carried out on 7 March. 130 Ukrainians were then exchanged for 90 Russian soldiers.
