The two gangster masterpieces, which together have a running time of 381 minutes, tell the story of Michael Corleone (Al Pacino). The young Italian-American grows up as the sheltered child of a mafia clan. Even though his powerful father (Marlon Brando) wants to keep him out of the dirty business, Michael eventually becomes one ruthlessly brutal godfather who has extreme talent for his bloody craft.

Many consider them not only genre masterpieces, but two of the best films of all time. In the Moviepilot community, The Godfather achieved a top rating of 8.3. The Godfather 2 achieved an 8.2. Both films are in the top 10 of the best films ever.

They are particularly popular with male viewers in such an infamous way that The hit movie Barbie recently made fun of it: There, the Barbies let the Kens patiently explain the Godfather plot to them so that they can surprise their counterparts later.
