In the presence of King Carl Gustaf, Queen Silvia and Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M), Marika Markovits was ordained a bishop in the Diocese of Linköping by Archbishop Martin Modéus at a high mass in Uppsala Cathedral on Sunday.

On Sunday, Marika Markovits and Erik Eckerdal were consecrated as bishops for the dioceses of Linköping and Visby, respectively.
Archbishop Martin Modéus held the ceremony in Uppsala Cathedral and among the guests, in addition to King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia, also Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson and his wife Birgitta Ed were noticed.
Next Saturday, January 21, Marika Markovits will be received in Linköping’s cathedral. On the same day, Erik Eckerdal is received in Visby Cathedral.
