The program will close to the public from June 13-19, reopening at the new site on Monday, June 20, a board release said.

“This move marks an important step forward for the . . . program, enabling us to better serve our community and expand our offerings” Paul Wiersma, the board’s alternative and continuing education co-ordinator, said.

The adult and continuing education department provides a range of programs catering to learners of all ages and backgrounds, including:

  • Adult credit programs serving over 1,200 learners aged 18 to 76, offering credit support at 11 sites, including First Nations communities, Prior Learning Assessment Recognition (PLAR) for mature students, self-study online learning, Adult SWAC, and adult co-op.
  • Literacy and basic skills programs, serving more than 500 learners at seven sites, offering skills for success, PLAR and credit preparation, college, employment, trades and apprenticeship preparation, soft skills, and computer skills.
  • International and Indigenous language elementary programs, serving 400-plus learners in eight languages.
  • Summer learning programs for some 1,200 learners, including online learning, co-op, horticulture, integrated arts, and construction technology.

The adult and continuing education program is committed to providing accessible and high-quality education to the community and would like to thank their students, staff, and community partners for their ongoing support as they begin an exciting new chapter, the board said.
