Two cars on fire after collision outside Vårgårda – three people to hospital

According to early information to the police and emergency services, it was a car that had driven into a fence and started to burn. Once there, it turned out to be two cars that had collided with each other.

– When we arrived there were two passenger cars on fire and completely engulfed in flames, says the command operator at the Greater Gothenburg Rescue Service.

According to SOS Alarm, three people have been taken to hospital. Two people with an ambulance and one person with an ambulance helicopter.

There is currently no information on how many people were traveling in the two cars. There is also no report on the injury status of those involved.

Road closed for a couple of hours

Several units from the emergency services, ambulance and police were called to the scene. The traffic accident took place at the height of Ljursdamm between Vårgårda and Tämta on national highway 42. The road is expected to be closed for a couple of hours in the future, according to the police.

– We are still on the scene, it is still a bit unclear what has caused this accident, says Frederik Svedemyr, press spokesperson at police region West.
