At least three times a day, trucks are exposed to theft and according to the police, it is a well-organized crime. Last year, more than 1,300 transport thefts were reported in Sweden. In many cases, it is a matter of the perpetrators quickly cutting up the truck’s canopy and accessing expensive goods in the cargo. But few thefts are solved. – It is very rare to have witnesses, says Christian Nordin, local police area manager in Ängelholm. The thefts usually occur at night when the drivers are asleep and there are rarely any traces, so the thefts are difficult to investigate. For truck drivers, it feels more the rule than the exception that criminals try to steal goods when they are out driving. That is what the truck driver Affe Nilsson says, who was exposed to theft and threats a year ago. – Three guys came with a knife and threatened me. You get cut, he says.
