18:25 – Summary of the stage

Michael Woods wins this historic stage at Puy de Dôme! At kilometer 0, Victor Campenaerts launched hostilities. The latter attacks and takes in his wheel 13 other riders who will form the first breakaway of the day. The peloton is trying to come back but the agreement is not ideal. Some runners try to go against like Alaphilippe and Skjelmose but it will not be successful. Finally the peloton will let the leading group go. Among the leading runners, Neilson Powless, white jersey with red polka dots, takes the lead at the top of the first listed difficulty of the day. It will reiterate in stride on the coast of Pontcharraud. 55 kilometers from the finish, Neilson Powless is still in front at the top of the third and penultimate climb of the day. A few kilometers from the start of the ascent of the Puy de Dôme, the leading group will explode following the repeated attacks of certain riders. David Gaudu and Romain Bardet finished in this 9th stage of the Tour de France 2023 but lost 1’13” and 1’32” respectively on the Simon Yates group.

18:09 – Pogacar regains 8 seconds at Vingegaard

Tadej Pogacar fights and takes 7 seconds from Jonas Vingegaard in this terrible ascent of the Puy de Dôme. In the general classification it is down to 17 seconds.
