Three charged in violent robbery in Courtland area

Three people are facing charges after a violent robbery early Monday in the Courtland area.

And police say they expect to make more arrests in the case.

At shortly after 5 am on Monday four people went to a property on Second Street in Courtland. Three of the four entered a shed on the property, brandishing edged weapons as they demanded money from the two occupants, said Norfolk OPP.

The four suspects then fled the scene in a silver KIA SUV.

No injuries were reported.

Norfolk OPP and the OPP Emergency Response Team responded and began an investigation.

Three people were arrested and charged.

Two Norfolk County women, one aged 31 and the other aged 50, were both charged with two counts of robbery with violence and one count of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.

A 32-year-old Norfolk man has been charged with two counts of robbery with violence.

All three were held in custody to await bail hearings.

Police anticipate making more arrests in the case. Norfolk County and Brant County OPP Crime Units are continuing to investigate.

“There is believed to be no threat to public safety,” said Norfolk OPP Const. Andrew Gamble.
