This SMS sent to Carla Bruni at the heart of

A message sent to Carla Bruni could be at the origin of investigators’ suspicions about the singer’s possible involvement in the “Save Sarko” part of the investigation into the conditions of Ziad Takieddine’s retraction.

Carla Bruni is heard this Thursday, May 2, 2024 by the police officers responsible for investigating the conditions of the retraction of Ziad Takieddine, who had first accused Nicolas Sarkozy of having illegally received money from Libya, before returning on his allegations. The police suspect Ziad Takieddine of having been paid to speak publicly by declaring that he had lied, to clear Nicolas Sarkozy. The former first lady must provide the information she knows about this affair.

Messages with “Mimi Marchand” deleted

The singer Carla Bruni is more precisely heard in the section “Saving Sarko”, a separate file, in which his name appears numerous times. In 2023, she denied any involvement in this affair: “I don’t have the beginnings of the slightest curiosity about my husband’s affairs” she declared. However, as Mediapart reveals, investigators discovered that she had deleted all of the messages exchanged on the application Signal with Mimi Marchand, friend and “queen” of the celebrity press, before her indictment in 2021. Carla Bruni would also have allowed “Mimi” to obtain a PCR test more quickly – in 2020, during the Covid epidemic – 19 – to go to Beirut, as part of operation “Save Sarko” with Ziad Takieddine.

“Madam, it’s a done deal for Tuesday morning.”

But it was another very specific text message that tipped off the investigators. This is a text message from the security officer sent to Carla Bruni. According to Mediapart, it would show that everyone knew the destination of Mimi Marchand’s trip: “Madame, this is a matter settled for Tuesday morning, 48 hours before departure for Lebanon” he would have sent. Before giving a completely different speech to the investigators: “I am surprised to have written such comments. In any case, I do not know at all what it corresponds to. I am even surprised by the text”.

Information which led investigators to ask questions about the real implications of Carla Bruni in the affair, and the information from which she benefits. Former President of the Republic Nicolas Sarkozy spoke to the judges in 2023 regarding his wife’s actions: “My wife helps Ms. Marchand just as she does a favor for her friend so that she can go on a trip (… ) was she aware that Mr. Takieddine was sentenced to prison? No. Did she know that he had fled or was in Beirut? he assured.
