The World Athletics Championships reached an audience of one million every night – Wilma Murro’s bronze jump achieved the greatest popularity

The nine-day sports festival gathered a large number of viewers on channels throughout the games. The average reach was 1.1 million.

The World Athletics Championships, which ended on Sunday, August 27, reached 3.1 million television viewers in Finland. All ‘s World Cup broadcasts had an average of 650,000 viewers and an average reach of 1.1 million.

No fewer than 11 broadcasts reached more than a million. The evening competitions, seen in the prime time, reached an audience of one million on each day of the competition, and the average viewership of the four broadcasts rose above one million.

– The popularity of our athletics broadcasts is exceptionally high on a global scale. Finns love athletics and know the sport well. When many Finns were seen among the world’s top players after quiet years, interest was clearly growing, says the head of Urheilu Joose Palonen.

The World Cup was shown and heard on TV2, Areena and Puhe. Urheilu’s website and application also offered live tracking, race news, topics of conversation and the most interesting clips. The chat was open every race day in the application and in Areena.

During the Games, there were a total of almost 4.2 million visits to Urheilu’s website. In addition to Finns, the most popular articles and clips dealt with the superstars of the Games, such as Karsten Warholm. The games follow-up article had a total of 542,000 page downloads.

Kisanaţi, which tests Finns’ sports knowledge, was played 140,000 times and 20,000 messages were sent to the chat.

The World Championships in Athletics took place from August 19 to 27 in Budapest, Hungary, and Finland had a large team of 40 athletes in the games.

Finns will be able to watch prestigious athletics competitions on ‘s channels in the coming years as well.
