The US gets home five prisoners in Iran – against six billion

The US government also promises to release the equivalent number of prisoners from its country.

The roughly six billion are frozen Iranian assets stored in South Korean accounts. Now the money will be able to be transferred to accounts in Qatar without risking being frozen due to US sanctions against Iran.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken approved the agreement last week, but the US Congress did not receive information until Monday, according to the AP news agency.
